But are these the only measures that we can take to keep us looking young and fit, spending thousands and thousands of pounds?
Well, I've come up with the Top 7 Tips to make you look AND feel young without even spending a penny!
1. Have a good posture All we have to do is stand straight. It's simple, you might think. Then why isn't everyone doing it? Imagine a straight line running from the top of your head behind your ears and through your body. A good posture helps the blood circulation, keeps the bones in place and makes us look young and healthy.
2. Wear the right colours Don't you find that some colours make you look vibrant whereas others make you look tired and old? This is the magic of colour. By wearing the right colour tones, it can even put less attention on your wrinkles or blemishes, if you have any.
3. Cover up those sags! The difference between an old person and a young person is that gravity does not do much favours to the old. Neckline, upper arms or knees are some of the areas that show age. We don't need to show everything to everyone! All we have to do is cover them up. You will be amazed how something so simple as this can make you look so much younger.
4. Don't look dated Even if you haven't gained or lost weight and can still wear clothes that you've bought so many years ago, a dated look creates an impression that you still live in the past, are clinging on to the past or you're just simply old and stingy, even if you're not!
5. Exercise Imagine a car or an appliance that hadn't been used for some time. When you try to make them run, they will squeak and rattle. Sometimes we end up replacing some parts. We're the same too. We need to exercise moderately on a regularly basis to keep us going smoothly.
6. Be open-minded It's easy to stick to the old rules. We're all used to it. But if we only stick to what we're accustomed to, we become hard-headed and start to live in our own tiny world. We will miss out on all the wonderful opportunities that we could have experienced if only we'd kept our doors opened. Medical research also shows that being open-minded and brain active can generate new brain cells.
7. Stand in front of a full-length mirror Do you look at yourself in the mirror? Do you check to see if you're groomed from head to toe? Do you check to see if you look any different from yesterday? Mirrors reflect how you look and feel. Standing in front of a full-length mirror will also help to keep you reasonably presentable. Even if you feel you can't be bothered, you have to. You only have to see yourself when you're standing in front of the mirror, but WE have to look at YOU all the time!
In less than a month, we will be celebrating New Year's! Next year, we will all grow one year older! Hurrah! Age is only a number, and we look for youth within us because we want to enjoy life.
