Hand Power

Hand Power

George Orwell said that 'Every man over 40 has the face that he

deserves'. Abraham Lincoln refused to take a man as his secretary

because he looked 'ugly'. He believed that a man over 40 should be

responsible for his looks.

We tend to focus on how our faces look, but people look at our

hands too. Whether you're a man or a woman, your face and hands

are usually the two areas that are exposed. Hands say a lot about

the person. You can even tell the person's personality and

profession simply by looking at the hands.

Soft hands, chapped hands, clean hands, sweaty hands. What do your hands say about you?

Nails...are they bitten, manicured, long, short, nicotine stained, soiled?

Watches become part of you. Mickey Mouse watch, Swatch watch, gold shiny Rolex watch, thick diver's watch, thin black leather watch, or no watch at all. What do they say about you?

Rings and bracelets, they talk too. The design, the size or how many you wear reflect who you are.

We often talk about body language. Pointing fingers show aggressiveness and showing palms suggests openness. Hand shakes can also give away your personality. How do you shake hands? Is it the confident firm shake, the uninviting 'dead fish' or the arrogant 'knuckle grinder'?

Whether you're typing away on your computer, having your morning coffee, signing a contract or just flicking your hair, remember that your hands are the centre of attention. No matter what age you are, look after your hands. It's worth it because hands "talk".
