... Almost too full to move, it was time to hit the shops. And who better to be my guide than Golders Green image consultant Toshiko Kobatake.

Born in Tokyo and raised in Los Angeles, she first worked as a foreign exchange customer dealer in major financial institutions around the world. 

But in 1999, Toshiko decided to pursue a career in something that has always fascinated her - fashion.

She studied at the London College of Fashion and then trained and qualified as an image consultant before setting up her own company Talking Image.

Toshiko, who is enlisted as Durley House's on-hand personal shopper, explained how she carries out a detailed questionnaire with the client covering everything from budget to measures.

And armed with a detailed knowledge of what the shops are offering, she will guide you around the latest season's offering.

With friends too worried about offending you, or boyfriends who'd rather watch the football, she offers a patient and honest eye on how you look and what you can do to improve your image.
